Adding a Digg It Button to Your Blog (Thank You EntreCard!)
Thursday, July 3, 2008 at 06:39AM I have just learned a quick little trick from my Entrecard friends. (checkout www.entrecard.com for an interesting site that may help drive traffic to your blogs)
The Entrecard community has launched an initiative to Digg each others’ blogs of interest. At Entrecard, members place an avatar on their blogs like the one you see in my sidebar. These avatars are scripted such that other Entrecard users can "buy" advertising spots on each other's blogs for a 24 hour period of time. When you buy advertising, your avatar appears on the site you have been approved for and when visitors to that site click on your avatar, they are directed to your site.
You earn credits by visiting each others’ sites and dropping your "card" at that site. It's a cool idea. Rather time consuming, but if you are building your business and trying to minimize your out of pocket dollars, this might be a site you want to check out.
You can add a button to each of your blog entries that will allow visitors to Digg your blog article with one simple click. You can place this button in your sidebar, but it is recommended you place it on each individual article you think might be of interest. Placing it after each article submits the url of that article and not the entire blog, which is preferable.
To put the button on your blog articles, you need to be in the html editor and then type:
"<script src=http://digg.com/tools/diggthis.js”type=”text/javascript”></script>"
This also works in Wordpress blogs, but you will need to put text directly under the code (don't ask me why, I am definitely not an html expert...) something like "Diggit if you do" or "Click Here if you enjoyed this post." For Wordpress users, there is also a plug in you can download. There is a tutorial at the following blog where you can learn more about that than I could possible help you with. Check it out at: http://blog.patyuen.com/lessons/howto_install_diggthis_plugin/
So, if you like this idea, Digg away..
